| Important Notice on Change to Agilent Proforma Earnings Reporting | | In anticipation of Agilent’s third-quarter 2008 earnings release, which will take place on August 14th, we want to highlight an important change to the way we will report proforma earnings.
Agilent filed an 8-K on July 1, 2008 outlining a plan to now include FAS 123R expenses (equity-based compensation) in its segment reporting. (Upon the implementation of FASB 123R in the first fiscal quarter ending January 31, 2006, Agilent included share-based compensation expenses in its GAAP results but did not include such expenses in its segment reporting). Furthermore, Agilent will include FAS123R expenses in proforma results and earnings guidance. Agilent is making this change to be consistent with most publically traded companies and in response to feedback from the investment community.
Although these changes will be effective third-quarter 2008, Agilent will continue to provide proforma earnings without FAS 123R expenses for the next two quarters to ease the transition for investors. Also, to help with updating your financial models, you can find our restated proforma and segment results in the “Financial Information” section of this website.
